We held a public meeting in the assembly halls in New Romney with Southern Water(SW), the Environment Agency (EA), the Internal Drainage Board (IDB) and Damian Collins MP.
The outcome of this Meeting;
- A Steering Group to be setup with SW, EA, IDB and local elected members to meet regularly with the community to work together to improve the quality of bathing water.
- Water testing from October-April to be shared with the local community.
- Damian Collins MP, took away community members questions to follow-up on.
- SW offered to connect identified properties (with Cess-pits contributing to the pollution) and add them to the main sewer free of charge.
- EA to raise awareness in the community to stop people feeding wild fowl & seagulls to reduce pollution in the New Sewer.
As at June 4th no progress to report!
